Laurence O’Toole was formerly a Senior Intermediate Iyengar Yoga Teacher with over thirty years of teaching experience. He began teaching in 1979 at the behest of his teacher, Liz Keeble. From 1979 to 1995 he taught in Bimingham (UK) adult education and private yoga classes. In 1995 he moved to County Cork, Ireland and resumed teaching there. At the end of 2002 having been invited to teach in Germany he took up residence. During the last ten years he has received invitations to teach workshops round Germany, in Ireland, the States and the Middle East.
Laurence was when he was an Iyengar Teacher was a fully qualified teacher trainer and assessor and trained in yoga therapy. After some years of being disillusioned with the direction that Iyengar Yoga was being taken in 2011 he tended his resignation to BKS Iyengar. Subsequently he is developing a form of yoga with a more devotional approach to that of orthodox Iyengar Yoga. Hence the correct alignment and extension in the yoga asanas that stimulate health in the body are a means to an end and not an end in them selves. Laurence’s practice is centered more on the integration of body, mind and soul through asana, pranayama and meditation and a fusion of Hatha, Raja, Bhaki and Karma Yoga.
In addition to his work as a yoga teacher Laurence O'Toole was always also an artist. Some of his works can be found on the website www.creative-arts-laurenceotoole.com.
